Seat Ibiza car cutting out then not starting.

Car: Seat Ibiza
Variant: 1.6 TDI Diesel
Model Year: 2009
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
My Ibiza was in for it's MOT a couple of weeks ago and since then on a few occasions the car has cut out. This only happens when I am in a low gear or have came in to a junction. The few times this has happened I haven't been able to start the car again and had to end up getting someone to help jump start the car. So overall been a bit of a nightmare. I eventually left my car overnight the last time and it started the morning after so I drove it straight to the garage that did my MOT. They haven't managed to find anything wrong, which is a bit of a relief but then I'm scared in case it happens again. The garage have advised me to put some fuel cleaner through the tank as this could be an issue but I was just wondering if someone had had a similar problem and can help in any way?
Many thanks

how does the car seem when it started does run smoothley or does it run rough? it may be a good idea to get it the car plugged in and see if there is any fault codes stored in the ecu.

I had something similar many years ago on a 1998 Ibiza Mk 2 1.9 Tdi.

Intermittent problem. It would cut out, or lose power. If you waited for a while, it would then restart. There was no pattern to when the fault would occur.

Took it to a crap Seat main dealer, who couldn't find the problem. Then took it to a good Seat main dealer (Livingstons at Uddingston). They found that the problem was caused by a faulty fuel filter. I had fitted a cheap aftermarket one. They put a proper Seat one on, and problem was solved.

It didn't stop me using a cheap aftermarket filter at my next service, but I knew to change it if the problem recurred (which it didn't.)

I hope this is of some help.
