loads of smoke coming out of exhaust using loads of oil, 4 litres in about twenty minutes. i was told head gasket at first but the water is fine no oil not a funny colour.

You dont say what engine in car , petrol / diesel . Sounds like it could be faulty turbo or the PCV filter (oil seperator) blocked or faulty valve . Could also be knackered engine , blown piston etc.
