Rover 75 blocked screen washer

Car: Rover 75
Variant: CDTi Estate
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
My washer was blocked at the bottle end. Forums suggested a gunged up filter. I was told it needed the front bumper off, or the o/s wheel arch cover removing to get at the pump.
I did a DIY fix by forcing air from my foot pump (with an air bed inflater attachment to fit to the tubing)back through the pump to loosen the gunge. This also forces a lot of the bottle content out. I added a good bit of bleach to erradicate the remaining gunge and then left the hose pipe in the bottle with water flowing through for a good while to get rid of the bleach. Worked a treat.
I reckon an annual flush out would be worthwhile, without the bleach.

Glad you got it fixed . Only thing you got to watch when using air to clear is that you dont blow of water hoses from pump / connections .
