Rover 75 tyre wear

Car: Rover 75
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
I have had to replace the tyres on the front of my Rover 75 twice within 7000 miles and there is a loud kind of rumbling sound when I go over 55. Any ideas please?

Could be a wheel bearing knackered / driveshaft etc . Need to get it checked out for wear and rectified . Check susp bushes ,steering , shockers .Also wheel alignment checked out .

re. wheel alignment , get 4 wheel laser alignment .This is from Rover forum from this common complaint .

" Get the alignment checked and reset.

The Front wheels alignment is set up using the rear as the datum.

When the fronts are set ask the garage who is doing the alignment to put 0° Camber on the back wheels, this will cure the wear issues. If they are set up as MG Rover originally specified the rear tyres will wear on the outer edges. "

have you had the ball joints and track rods ends checked play in a ball joint even minor can cause tyre wear also a bent drive shalf can cause the wheel to push out or pull in

Hi all,

I've removed a few posts from this thread to keep things on track. We value everyone who takes the time to post on here and don't want to see things get personal. The nature of car problems means that there will often be more than one opinion on what's causing it/how to fix it, that's what makes it an interesting and challenging area to work in.

At the end of the day people are either on here to get help or provide help, if you don't agree with what's being posted please just agree to disagree. As I said we value everyone's contributions and don't want people to feel as though they can't add anything on here.

All the best and Happy New Year everyone :)
