Rover 75 abs light on and revs up and down when idle

Car: Rover 75
Variant: 2.0l club se
Model Year: 2000
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi all, took my car for mot yesterday and failed on abs light being on constant. bought a new cable £69 and fitted by mechanic to o/s front where mot station said it looked a bit worn. light still on after its fitted. Also when engine running idle, rev counter up and down between 0-1000 revs..is this linked to abs?
Pads are ok, but mate mentioned that there is possibly a rear wheel bearing gone on rear o/s. im thinking that all these probs are linked, although im no mechanic... Need to get these sorted asap as i have to get mot sorted asap.
thanks for any advice you can offer..

need to get a read done re the abs fault. Possible map sensor fault or air leak around inlet manifold
