Rover 45 engine management light

Red light came on but engine worked normally for few days, also doors stopped unlocking with fob but unlocked manually, all other panel lights work normally, now engine won't even turn over, does anyone have any ideas of fixes or suggestions.

Should never drive with red light on without checking ASAP . Could be battery and / or alternator not charging .
