Rover 45 coolant needs refillling - thanks

Car: Rover 45
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
Thanks guys to you all who just replied. I will ask the garage for a block test (whatever that may be!!!) Also should I ask for head gasket to be replaced or 'shaved' (I heard that term used on another forum!) Not sure if it's worth it but mileage only about 33,000 true miles on clock - thanks again.

Yeah it,s an alloy head so getting it skimmed would be best, there's also a modification kit for this repair where you remove the sump and add an alloy brace that,s meant to help stop this fault,as they were getting so many.

If YOU have to suggest getting the head skimmed to the garage , change your garage . They should also get head , when removed pressure tested for cracks . After 2002 the gaskets were modified .Best to get a quote first for the repairs if that is the head / gasket is confirmed .
