Rover 400 starter engine

Car: Rover 400
Variant: 1.4 Si
Model Year: 1997
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi.
I have Rover 414 SI year 1997 (export, not UK) and suddenly I have a problem with starting engine; when I turn key to start engine I had to hold it few seconds (sometimes I repeat the process 2 times) before it starts. I've done some cleaning on starter connectors and solenoid and after that it starts without problems, but after few days latter it's the same as I'd described in the beginning. Does anyone know how can I fix this problem?
Thanks.
