Rover 25 cold start engine cut out

when i start my car it will start first time but as soon as i come off the revs the engine cuts out. will keep doing this until engine warms up.seems fine then. no weird noises and runs smooth. could this be the automatic clutch???

Could be engine coolant temp sensor .

mean choke not clutch. lol. on first question. also went on hols leaving car for 16 days. tried to start car but battery had completely drained done the same thing 7 months age. maybe my altinater needs a test???
