Rover 25 starting

my rover prob when ignition key is put in and turned all the ignition lights come on but does not crank holding the key full on for a few minutes it then cranks. this happens all the time help any body have the same prob

Could be ignition switch but check wiring / connections at starter solenoid first , especially spade connection .
