Rover 25 engine will not turn over

When turning the key the engine will not turn over, but an alarm sounds & it sounds like a bell ringing but can not see any lights on dashbord

you engine is immobalised. Try pressing the remote button whilst the ignition is on, if that doesn't work you need to take it to a garage that can reprogramme your remote. About £80

Have you tried a jump start or charging battery ?Didn't leave lights on ? and noise you are hearing is reminder to switch off ?
