Rover 25 no acceleration when engine gets too warm or hot - cuts out

Car: Rover 25
Variant: 1.4
Model Year: 2001

I was driving around NICE, France. The car started up ok from cold, it was a very warm day in the south of France and I drove about 600 Km using the airconditioning from time to time.
The car ran OK until engine got very warm (hot)then started to cut out and loss of power as I was assending to 300 meters above sea level.
When I pulled over and stopped, I lifted the hood and pressed the accelerator throttle, but would not rev up and kept cutting out, like it was searching for petro, but couldn;t get any.
I shut the car off, and then the car would not run properly at all if I tried immediately.
I let it cool down for 10 minutes and it started up ok and revved up ok using the throttle.
So I contimued down the road and when it got too warm at running temp, approximately 500 meters the problem returned and it just seemed like I had no petro, but the tank is 3/4 full.
I believe it has sonmething to do with vapor in gas hose , as it seems like no gas (petro) or the cooling system is not sufficiently pressurised.

Checked coolant level ? These cars are notorious for blowing head gasket . Could check thermostat not sticking and engine fan cutting in o.k . But if cooling system pressurising , head gasket favourite .

assuming headgasket is ok then another common fault on these engines with the throttle housing, check the hoses going to the throttle housing and the stepper motor might need adjustment,if you switch the ignition on and press the accelerator pedal 5 times then switch ignition off all in the space of 10 seconds this resets the throttle position sensor, the ht leads are prone to problems as well especially under load
