Renault Scenic instrument panel no lights

Car: Renault Scenic
Variant: 1.4 Authentique
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I cannot see anything on the instrument panel. The lights just went off and you can see a very slight fickering and occational beep. Radio, and other lights work fine. Just the instrument panel lights out.

Sounds obvious but there is a roller switch near to the right of the steering wheel by where your right knee sits and this adjusts the brightness of the dash lights. Give it a toggle first as this is usually the case.

This happened to me also (Renault Grand Scenic), it's not the panel light dial that is the problem but the instrument cluster itself. Looking about on net I find this is a fairly common problem on Renaults 3 or 4 years old.

Drivers will usually notice trip and clock getting reset over a period of a week or so, then the instrument display simply dies.

Just happened to mine and I am costing up 3 options... 1. Going to Renault Dealership 2. Sourcing Replacement part and getting it done locally 3. Sourcing a second-hand part and getting it done locally 4. Finding what single component on the cluster is the problem and trying to fix it.

I guess that options 2, 3 and 4 will also mean a trip to the Renault Dealership since the mileage will be wrong once repaired.
