Hello. I changed a Brake Master cylinder at the roadside in about 2 hours including bleeding the brakes very carefully.
Tha Master Cylinder cost about 100 quid. (This was for a Vauxhall, suggest you call partco/unipart for a quote for your Megane)
-A set of brake line spanners is useful.
-Wear gloves.
-Check which 'dot' rating brake fluid you need (usually says which on the cap.)
-For bleeding you'll need a friend, some clear tubing with approx 5mm bore and an empty jam jar.
You can also get an 'easybleed'kit (if no friends available to pump the pedal!)but I never got on too well with them.
-Brake line clamps which go on the flexi pipe can make the bleeding job easier.
You might want to get the servo, calipers and if it has rear drums, the wheel cylinders checked too.
One thing though, don't take any chances if you are not sure. As with any brake job, always best left to the professionals!
If your car has ABS this may make things more tricky? any thoughts Whittingehame?
Cheers
