Depends on damage to engine i.e valves / head . You wont know till head taken off .

you need to remove the head and check the valves,cylinder head and pistons for damage,

yes can be saved but you will find you will need new valves in cylinder head

Also depends on overall condition of car , Mot situation etc. etc , and what damage to engine when stripped down , whether repair is a viable option .
