Renault Megane check injection light and squealing noise

Car: Renault Megane
Variant: 1.9 diesel
Model Year: 2005
Categories: Leaks & Noises
My Check Injection light goes on and off but car has been running fine. However, today on the motorway a loud squealing noise appeared to be coming from driver rear side, although my passenger said they thought it was coming from the engine. Couldn't go any more than 60 without it sounding internally like it was about to take off. Then noticed that the rev counter wouldn't move above 2. Noise was seemed to lessen when slowing down but is still there even in lower gears. No loss of power at all. Any ideas before I take it to a garage would be appreciated.

When was the fuel filter last changed ? Without being more specific on whether the noise is coming from front or rear , hard to offer advice .From the front it could be a belt squeal but only one of many possible causes .If not fuel filter , will require a diagnostic scan to see what is bringing on injection light .
