Renault Laguna fault fuel injection

Car: Renault Laguna
Variant: 1.8 16v
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
the engine light is on and fuel injection fault flashes up on the dash. When i drop the clutch to change gear it revs up to abt 3-4000. It also speeds up without my foot on the accelorator

Your problem is almost certainly a faulty accelerator sender unit (Potentiometer) The ECU will have locked into limp home mode which gives you enough revs to drive the car without a working accelerator pedal.
