Renault Laguna intermitent fault

the car starts ok in the morning. but after stoping at lights ect car begins to cut out and will not start again. until recently it did this when at low speed on the street roads. but now its started doing it at speed on motorways.had it code checked but nothing shown up. but car is still doing it and is geting worse. and now its becoming harder to open the car and lock it remotely.if you can help please do as this has cost a small fortune already. thankyou crawf.

Hi this sounds like the ignition coil or crankshaft position sensor CKP, it normally behaves that way, as soon as the engine cools it will start right back up like nothing happened. When it goes off the next time try to pour a little water on the coil or ckp(on the body only for water not to go where the terminals are). If it starts you can change the coil or ckp with confidence. About the door becoming difficult, I think its because you crank the car a lot and the battery doesn't really fully charge to replenish the energy used for cranking.

Totally agree with Newenergy's solution however one other possibility is a vacuum forming in the fuel tank as fuel is used. This is caused by a blocked filler cap vent and after leaving the car for a while, air seeps in and the car will start again. This is easy to check, next time it happens, try removing the filler cap, replacing it and see if the car will start.

thanks for your answers however problem still exists. have now been told that it is the fuel pressure regulator. but not been told where it is any suggestions would be gratefully received. thankyou crawf.

anyone know where i can get a part wirin loom for engine. fuel pressure sensor ect.
