Renault Laguna battery discharge

Car: Renault Laguna
Variant: 1.8 DCi Priviledge
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Leaks & Noises
My laguna 2 (diesel) drains the battery when switched off. The alternator works fine. I also noticed that electric windows are now working intermittently, going up or down a short distance before stopping, no longer travelling up or down continuously. When I checked the battery after jumping it and running the vehicle for about an hour, the battery was very hot and smelled of burning. Can the fixers help?

All the classic signs of a battery with a dud cell i.e not holding a charge and cells gassing . Could just double check alternator output to make sure it's not overcharging .

Get a load test done on battery. This will confirm once and for all if battery is dud.
