Renault Laguna wont fire up.

Car: Renault Laguna
Variant: 1.6 expression
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
was driving on the motorway when i suddenly lost power and the car slowly rolled to a halt on hard shoulder! when i pressed the start button, it turned engine over, but never started.
garage said i had put diesel in it at first, but i didnt. then they said they werent sure as all sparkplugs spark.
now he said that there is no compression in a cylinder he checked.
does this mean the cambelt has snapped? can it? if so, will the head be damaged, or do they have contactless heads??

I think you should take your car to another garage as it seems they cant diagnose car correctly .Simple to check if belt snapped .If so there will be almost certainly bent valves at least ,unfortunately .

I agree. You need to find another garage. Better than the one you have been using.
