Car: Renault Laguna
Variant: RT auto

Lack of torque after autobox warms up (similar to slipping clutch on manual)..Auto box light comes on. After cool down ok again for a while.May be ok on a run but bad around town.

Could be ATF level low .Best to get it scanned and see what shows .If not been done for a while you could change ATF and gearbox filter .You do have clutch packs inside auto boxes which can , like a manual transmission , wear out over time . There are usually approved auto trans. specialists listed in local Yellow Pages who can advise , but check they are approved if you can .

Hi again,
just wondering if the clutch packs are worn would the fault be there all the time or only when the ATF is presumably hotter, (stop /start driving)?...The car has done nearly 100 k,never towed and driven quietly.
I will get it checked out next week btw.
Thanks again,
colin.

As you say , if it was clutch packs worn , like a manual box , usually slip all the time .May just be ATF as low level can affect servos , valve block etc .

Hi guys,

I've had the car on diagnostics and it appears just to be a blip on the ecu....Since the fault appeared only twice and at the exact same spot at traffic lights next to a railway station (by Morrisons,Hereford), it seems likely, or at least possible, to be an electromagnetic pulse or some sort of interference affecting the car's ecu, maybe from the traffic lights, the railway station, the hospital opposite or the adjacent car wash. The fluid level was normal btw.

Thanks for all your help guys.
