Renault Laguna intermitting starting problem

Car: Renault Laguna
Variant: 1.8
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Most of the time the car starts fine, but now and again it wont start. If i leave it for half hour or so then it starts or i just keep trying to start it for 5-10 mins then it starts. What could it be, peiople and friends have suggested loads of different things from the electrics to the fuel pump???????????

Check the battery, starter motor, spark plugs, and make sure you're getting fuel into the combustion chamber, at worse it can be damaged teeth on the flywheel
