Renault Laguna tailgate open warning light stays on

Car: Renault Laguna
Variant: privilege dci 120 estate
Model Year: 2005
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Somehow i listed this fault Ref10138 as a Modus. Thanks to Kieran for his answer but the laguna setup is different. The tailgate open warning light stays on and nullifies my hands free. Everything works ok on the card buttons.

Can be lock fault , on some models a break in wiring where it passes through into tailgate can also cause it .

wiring all appears in good condition. gentle pulling reveals no breaks. could you expand on lock fault please.ie switch or mechanical.appears mechanically sound.electric motor locks and unlocks ok. just warning light says open. Thanks

On quite a few car there is a micro switch built into lock . This take the place of the older type push button switch which would operate things like door courtesy / interior light and boot light etc .

sorry to be a bore.Have stripped tailgate and rear window locks and switches.sprayed with WD40.solenoids all operate ok.only things that resembled a microswitch were on buttons to open boot and window. these worked and no apparent breaks.had closer look at loom at entrance to tailgate and no breaks.not sure if relays under bonnet could feature in this,if so which one.Getting desperate, Thanks

Dont know if this applies to your model / year .

The most common cause of the boot opening on the estate version is the boot release button. It gets filled with water and then the switch won't operate correctly. The switch just clips into the boot lid and can be easily removed by taking out one of the number plate lights, put your finger in through the number plate light hole so you can push on the boot light clip to make it easier to release. It is possible to take the boot release button apart if you are careful, if it is full of water you can dry it out an hope it will work again, if there is a lot of blue corrosion in the switch, replace it.
