Renault Espace white/grey smoke from cold start

Car: Renault Espace
Variant: 2.1td
Model Year: 1996
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Thanks for the previous suggestions.
I removed the glow plugs and measured them with a multimeter, 2 read 1-2 ohms the other 2 were O/C, replaced the glow plugs now starting not a problem. However, now after about 10 seconds from a cold start the engine begins to run rough and starts belching out white/grey smoke again! After a short run all is well and a hot start does not exhibit this fault, anyone got any ideas?

sounds like excess fuel device thinks the engine is colder than it is.
