Renault Clio auto gearbox oil

Car: Renault Clio
Variant: 1.4 16valve Auto
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
My car has run nearly 90,700 Mls. Asked dealer for what type of transmission oil I should change. They strongly recommended no changing of that oil, or the car won't run. Is it true?

Changing the transmission oil will not cause any harm, however unless you have specific problems with your transmission like lumpy changes or snatching there is no need to change it. If you do decide to change it removing the old fluid is difficult. I don't know your specific model but most Renault autos don't have a drain plug so you may need to suck the fluid out through the dipstick hole with a syphon pump designed for the job. Even then you will not get all the fluid out as the bottom of the sump will be difficult to reach and also the torque converter contains a good percentage of the total fill. As I said previously, if you don't have problems leave it alone.
