Renault Clio cold starting

Car: Renault Clio
Variant: 1870cc deisel
Model Year: 1995
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have to wait for the heater plug light to go out each time I start the vehicle and now when I start the car from cold in a morning or after several hours of non use, it takes several, maybe as many as five or six attempts before the car starts and this is usually accompanied by loads of smoke for a short while. Then throughout the day, it starts first or second time and no smoke. Can anyone help with this problem. I have been told it may be the heater plugs so if this is the case, can you tell me which ones I require. Many thanks, Ron

Just replace the set , not that expensive . Give the motor factor / parts dept the car details and they should supply correct parts . Give them a good soaking in penetrating oil and leave for a while before removing .

Thanks for that. Do you know if I require a special spanner as I attempted to remove one plug and couldnt get enough movement on the spanner. There just isnt enough space to get a socket in to remove them.

Not sure on that car , some can be a bit awkward . Can you not get them with a deep socket ?

No. Theres so little space behind the injector setup. Its like you need 3 or 4 knuckles on each finger just to undo the nut holding the wire first. I dont want the expense of going to a garage just to undo the plugs and to replace them but it might come to that if I cant get hold of an elongated spanner with a bend in it.
