my timingbelt snapped last week,i removed the head and found the valves ad been bent.i replaced all of them and fitted a new belt. the car ran great for 2 days then the earth strap broke from engine to chassis.a friend bump started it.after this it ran terrible.i fitted new earth strap and ended up takin head off, most of the valves ad bent agen.i replaced all valves agen.double checked the timing marks on cam and crank,all perfect but yet it seems to be missin agen.iv a suspicion its the valve bent agen.i noticed wen head was off that wen the marks on tdc on crank the pistons r about 10cm down the cylinders is that right for this make of car, id of thought they shud be level with the top of the cylinders. any advice plz

if the timing marks all lined up there should have been no problems as for the missing could be anything ie valves again did you grind them in or did you just fit them and rebuild if so this could be the problem but also check the spark plugs for clearance ie gap other than that thats all that i can help you with at the moment

When you first changed the valves did you check that the valve gudes in the head were not damaged becuase if they were you will get a sticking valve problem so it will happen again. Also with you saying that the pistons were sat low in the cylinders when you checked the timing was correct ie. on this engine crank mark at six o'clock and cam at twelve, it is a good idea to check that the key way on the crank pulley is'nt damaged as this could cause the timing to shift.
