Renault Clio starter motor

Car: Renault Clio
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My car wouldnt start had mechanic out he renewed white wire on starter motor, car started perfectly for 1 week.
Had same mechanic out renewed starter motor £170 included labour an vat.
Lasted 2 days and wouldnt start unless i bump started it.
Mechanic came out took the new starter motor off and it had broken up inside.
Had another new starter motor,he also ran a wire from the ignition to the new relay on the starter motor. car started, but my steering became very heavy and steering light came on. Why would this be?

Think you want to change your " mechanic " .Should not have had to alter wiring if correct starter fitted . There is no relay on a starter motor , just a solenoid .Relay is in different position if fitted .Never heard of a new/reputable make of starter " breaking up inside after two days " Depending on year of your car , but it probably has EPS (electric power steering ) and he has knackered it by the work he has done for whatever reason and you now have no power steering .Is he a mechanic from a garage ?
