The crank sensor on these is actually on top of the bellhousing directly above the clutch.
Have you checked for power going to the crank sensor at the multi plug ?
Have you checked for a live going to the coil ? and when you turn over the engine do you get a pulsed earth ? (LED is best to check this or oscilloscope) as an ordinary light is too slow to reliably check the earth side for a pulse.
I would be concerned about wires snapping/burning out.
What you really need to do is check the wires from the crank sensor to the ecu multiplug have continuity.
There should be a pink wire and a white one coming from the multi plug of the sensor, these go to terminals 5 & 6 of the ecu so disconnect the big multiplug and check terminals 5 & 6.
Terminal 5 should be the white and obviously 6 should be the pink.
