Renault Avantime stuck in park when system in drive

I put the lever into park but the car kept moving and i saw that the indicator light is still in "D". I put in the garage and turned off the engine and I cannot move the gear lever, even with the gear lever release pin mech and the car will not start, but makes a click noise like a bad connection

The click could be the inhibitor switch which all auto boxes have and which , along with it still in drive , will cause non start .May even be a relay clicking .
