Peugeot Partner speed sensor

i have a problem with my van the speedo only works when it feels like it so i got a new speed sensor the one that goes into the top of the gearbox just behind the flywheel but the speedo still not working. the milage is still registering up on it alright but just wont tell me what speed or revs ..any other ideas

It sounds like the actual speedo head is faulty but i would suggest taking out the instrument cluster unplug it and check the connections on the multiplugs refit and see if it starts working

thanks mate for the response but tried that already taking out speedo unit but when everything goes back together it stops working again is there another sensor somewhere else that controls speed??
