Peugeot Partner
electrical problem on attempting to start the engine.

After inserting the key and attempting to start the engine the panel lights come on and the wipers start uncontrolled and will not stop - wiper switch is off and has not be selected. The only way I have found to stop the wipers is to disconnect the battery. I leave it for a short time and reconnect the battery. So far when I now start the engine all is well.

May be a faulty wiper stalk / switch but could check if known fault that software updates/downloads that may correct fault . Either that or scan with suitable scanner that covers your vehicle and all systems / modules for any stored fault codes

Not sure if the wiper switch is faulty. It operates OK for months and then gos wrong. The engine at the same time will not start. I am thinking it is the BSM. What do the initials stand for?

BSM is the engine bay fuse box. (also known as PSF1 or BM34 on wiring diagrams.)

Could check for water ingress

Water may be a problem as we have some heavy rain just lately. I will check in the morning. Having said that I have used the car today without any problems. It is clearly an intermitent fault which makes it much harder to find/fix.
