Input shaft bearing and clutch shaft sleeve/release bearing noise can be difficult to sort out which as they're right next to each other and run on the same shaft.
Again box has to come out to check either.
WHEN the box is out the clutch can be checked for wear.
But if you don't renew it when the box is out its another 6 hours labour to be paid when it eventually goes.
This is just one of those times when any diagnosis is best guess until the gearbox comes out and both clutch and box are inspected.
All this is speculation until the parts are on the bench.
Oh and Peugeot do a recon clutch AND bearing sleeve thrown in which considering the sleeve is around £39 is quite a good deal.
Parts total was around £69,
that plus 2 liters of oil plus 6 hours at whatever your guy charges an hour is your ballpark estimate.
input shaft bearings and fitting them is extra.
Don't go borrowing trouble,
Get the gear box out.
