Replying to post by whittingehame:
Is the previous owner not listed on the V5 document ? or the dealer must know who he got it from .
The dealer QC trading center Rotherham is not helping but I have contacted trading standards because, if this car had been trying to get on to a motorway down a slip road and only used 30 mph or 40 mph roads to get there ,as the car would be trying to match the speed of large lorries most doing over 60 to 65mph some are limited ,,,this car max 55 mph and you just find out this going down the slip road big problem if you can not match to merge even if you slow down as soon as you in the driving lane stuck at 55 mph lorries are going wounder why you only at 55 mph ..and if the worst happens you only would have the hard shoulder to run onto
Bad place to find out you can bit go over 55 mph
I would say this is dangerous so trading standards might get this car checked as its listed as 81 max top speed not that manufacturers get it bang on

Just phoned Peugeot UK
They have not got a clue why this Peugeot ion will not go over 55 mph yet it has no limiter fitted no cruse controls
So I might just go and ask the local butcher to have a look at it ..if you get my meaning?
So it looks like I have the only ion that can only do 55mph max and in D drive B&C position I give in with Peugeot not a lot of help from the dealers or company

I have 3 fault code readers but sadly none connect to this ion so after trying grimsby Trenton 26 miles away and Boston 30 miles away and Peugeot UK customer care no help no luck in this I can not belive in all my years as a mechanic welder sprayer body work and auto electrician that this is the only ion that has ever done this
But what you are suggesting sounds like a good idea regards

Trading standards say i have 30 days from the 13th August Purchase day to return this car for a full refund but I like the car is just the fault of being limited to 55 mph other than that its mint and drives like new I am now waiting for Peugeot trenton grimsby to let me know when they can check it I have asked twice and also just paid them £25 for the radio code
Just beware if you buy from QC trade cars as you might just get a lemon. May be

It was only as a dealership s/ manger that I could phone , wasn't available to joe public . They should not have charged you for radio code QC should have paid for it , Battery would normally have been replaced at some time on that year which would suggest battery had been flat or disconnected at some time , losing the code . Just dont talk yourself into keeping the car no matter how good it looks , the loss of power may get worse On a car of that year , you may be walking into battery pack troubles , BIG money Read this

You can just replace any one of the 84 cells and Peugeot say some ion cars with over 100.000 miles on the battery pack only lost 1 to 2 %
So when a few go its outwith the multi meter
If all else fails rip out the electric motor and gear box and fit a flat 4 vw engine in it should go down well with dvla lol
Apart from the limited mph I have got every thing else sorted running nice and all the door rattles packed with foam silent now but QC trade cover them selves with a bill with get out clauses best not to buy off them unless you can test drive one to the full or just don't buy off them at all
I will not be doing so again

The reply I got back from a Peugeot dealer just to see and look and decode if it can be ?
With regards to the speed limiter, as we do not see these vehicles everyday we are unsure as to whether the vehicle has one built in. so we would have to have a look at the vehicle to see if there is one to be coded out for you. The cost of the repair will be £118.80 inc vat per hour. Please let us know if you would like to get the vehicle booked in.

Normal practice nowadays for checking but often refunded if work / repairs carried out . In your case you are paying them to learn something , educate them . I wish I had charged my customers every time I diagnosed a problem , I would be typing this from my holiday home in Hawaii or Barbados .

This is the UK today
I have just had an 83 year old man a few doors down from me he took an interest in the ion but as we were taking he said he had booked his car in at the Ford dealer on Mablethorpe he has a 58 Honda jazz auto but engine light was on
I said let me have a look.i had 4 code reader I put one on and miss fire on all 4 cylinders I said get 8 plugs I will fit them for you
He said its hot and the ac is not working
I went to.my Honda civic took out the ac tube that had half a tin of gas in I put it in his ac and the cold came back he said wow I thought it was bust I said no they all leak a bit over the years..2 days later the plugs came I took will the old ones out never seen plugs so worn my life massive gaps
Fitted the new ones in and added more gas to 30 psi and all good he was so happy and the labour cost was thank you that's how I work no money comes my way I like to help is just time and a chat that's what being retired is all about and his wife is over the moon and I gave him one of my code reader that worked on his car all free

I think any one who wants to break in the the world of electric cars should think very carefully as once you have got one your stuck with the problems Peugeot trenton grimsby say they have only seen 4 since they came out and they want to try to find out why mine will not go any faster than 55 mph at my expense £118 an hour and how long to see what's wrong
Do you know how much old age pension is in the UK for a week not enough to get this fixed at their prices and that could take ages no thank you the incar i790 reader is only £110
It reads the lot on ion.so I might just get one and safe £8 or more
You try to get in to electric to do your bit and this is what you come to see rip off uk
They do not care about pollution only money and it shows

Never thought if that buy very good idea limit them for a few years until they get some driving experience
If you could see the car you would know why I want it put right but I can not show it on here
But not to go fast I could do that in my civic or the wife's nissan note fully loaded but some times putting your foot down a bit more can get you out of a situation I would ge happy with 68 mph all day long
Posted Aug 27, 2021 (3 years ago)
Oh wow wife's nissan note tec has the limiter and cruse control and satnav only used it once in a motorway as she drives it most
They are getting good with cars my day was better with points condenser distributer and a carb you could adjust
But the good old said have gone and the future is not looking good from where I am sitting lol
At least you could do it your self from a book even if you did not know what you were doing

Phoned autokontrol in Manchester they said they fitted it to this Peugeot ion as it was a council vehicle used for delivering meals
They were kind enough to tell me how to disable it and it worked so the car is now back as it should be 3 weeks of head ache looking for why it was limited sorted now Thank you
