Peugeot 407 puegeot 407 petrol 2000cc auto. the 4th gear kicks back to 3rd gear when i increase speed.

The auto gearbox kicks back to 3rd gear . This happens when I first start and the box goes from 3rd to 4th. I then have to stop, turn the engine off for 20 seconds and then restart. As get further and the engine is hotter it seems to be alright.

Did you ever check / change the ATF ? Scan for fault codes with suitable equipment that covers auto transmission and all modules
