Peugeot 406 missing

When it's cold, it runs beautifully, but then it starts to miss, seems like it's firing on only 2 or 3 cylinders.. If I stop, then it always does that when I start again. But when it's cruising, it gets better again after a few minutes. The garage said it needs a new coil pack. But that's expensive, and I can't afford it, unless I'm sure. Any ideas?

If you've been told the coil pack is knackered and you cant afford one , get one from scrapyard .

Yes. I have been trying to find one. But no luck yet. Anyone else got any other suggestions?
