Peugeot 406 runs erratically at speeds between 28 to 40 mph

Car: Peugeot 406
Variant: estate 406 lx hdi 90
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
runs erratically between 28 to 40 mph ,it jerks badly and gets worse the colder the weather . have spent a large sum on diagnostics and replacing various electronic components including the potentiometer . The diesel tank has been drained and new fuel added in case of water pollution .
On occasions it loses power in lower gears and only picks up when I can get the speed up to 50 mph and then it runs as normal until the speed drops. This can go on for quite a time and suddenly it reverts to normal and may continue with just the jerking for a year or more .

The diagnostics donot show any problems .

Any suggestions would be welcome as my garage and the Peugoet main dealers cannot explain it.

I think it's the coil pack.. Have you tried replacing it?
