Peugeot 406 heater fan wont turn off or change speed

my heater fan wont turn off or change speed regardless what the digital display says please help thanks.

My father had the same issues you have on his 406. I hope this helps.

I am confident that it is not the control panel within the cabin. I too thought this but it was actually the resistor for the fan.

In the passengers foot well you will see the fan, next to this housing there is a unit to the right near the back (approx 3.5 inches x 2 inches in size). You will see that this is wired to the main fan also by TWO plugs (green in my fathers).

If you remove these two plugs, then remove the SINGLE 5mm screw holding the resistor in, you will be able to gentle remove the resistor from its housing.

It will have a base and 4-5 metal slats.

If this is the offending item, Peugeot will price you one for £133.00. I however went to my local Car Breakers and brought one for the back breaking sum of £11.75.
