Peugeot 406 over heating

Car: Peugeot 406
Variant: 1.8 SE manual
Model Year: 1997
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I recently had the top gasket replaced because the former one fried up due over heating. The car still overheats though the fan works perfectly and I had the radiator changed. This morning on my way to work, the STOP light came on and the car stopped accelerating. I checked and the temperature was High. I don't know what to do next.
Thank You.

A block test would be my next stop,
It's a reactive liquid in the tester and goes into the expansion tank.
The liquid is blue but changes colour in reaction to ANY combustion gas in the coolant.
Your description of "FRIED" top gasket which I'm assuming you mean the head gasket makes me wonder if the head was machined skimmed flat when the head was off?
Which is what I would have done to any engine that was fried!!

Additional.
Which engine?
The 8 valve engine is a wet liner system so there's a possibility of cylinder base seal failure.

Was the head pressure tested prior to replacing gasket ?
