Peugeot 406 glow plug light not coming on dash board and drives like semi~ automatic

Car: Peugeot 406
Variant: 2.0 diesel manual
Model Year: 1999
(a)When i put on the key my car does not show that glow plug coil sign on the dash board. Cranks hard before engine roars into life, like 60 seconds or more.(b) my car drives like its on auto cruise because i can change all the gears upwards to gear number 5 without stepping the accelerator pedal.....(it has self acceleration) which comes gradually....but its a manual gear box.Please help.......

Obvious answer is get your glow plugs tested,
though by the sounds of it they're all shot.
not a hard job to do with this engine.
as to the other thing first thing I need to know is cruise control fitted?
many were.
and check for free play at the throttle linkage under the bonnet.

(a)Plugs tested, all in working order.(b)Do manual cars sometimes have auto cruise fitted on them? (c) Where exactly is the throttle valve linkage?
