Peugeot 406 electronic ignition warning

Car: Peugeot 406
Variant: HDi
Model Year: 1999
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Further to #13393, have now inspected all wires for breaks and corrosion. None evident. Car now starts sometimes but not always and immobiliser warning light shows sometimes but not others! Sometimes re-cycling ignition switch it then fires! Sometimes the mileometer flashes in its second "page" window (oil level). Going crazy - can anyone help, please?

Have you had the vehicle on a code reader to see if there are any faults??
But it sounds like an immobilizer problem, so it may need to go to Peugeot to get the problem sorted...

Just had another thought, could also try resetting the ignition key to the car. If you have got the owners handbook, it should tell you how to do a key reset after replacing the the battery in the key fob. Hope this helps...

First thing I'd be checking is the bsi or body systems interface, everything runs through this,
so either it's the dealer or a very well equiped garage, you need them to run a "global test"this tests everything electrical cennected in the car, code reads the lot,if you like.
or if this isn't an option try a web site called "BBAREMAN",they have a page there detailing the manual resetting of the BSI,a bit of a pain to do but I have had it work a time or two.
