Should be a seal on rear lamp unit to stop this,if this has become brittle or dirt in it could be your issue you could use silicone sealer round it .you can strip out and use talkcum powder then water test and it will pin point exact position of leak
Thanks I will reseal and refit light. I remember cleaning to remove debris years ago as I thought the light had popped out as it was not flush.
