hi there im not 100% sure on this one but i think you will have to get the key coded via the dealer but there will be some one here on this site that will now the answer to programming the key without the dealer getting involved

There are many topics on this and i have tried them all. The cheapest solution is to search for somebody breaking a car. Get the remote control key fob AND the immobiliser box, as the key is coded to this. This box actually sits near the interior rear view mirror and the dark red infra red lens that you see is part of it.

Peugeot can POSSIBLY reprogram your key assuming it has the paper inside the fob that lists the serial number. However, with these cars costing around £400 complete for a second hand model, your charges would be at least half that from the dealer - more if they supply a new fob.

I won't say that it isn't possible to reprogram me the existing fob yourself - after all, they can put men on the moon! But i am familiar with auto electrics, security and electronics in general and i tried every method possible - and failed.

Save yourself some heartache and look on e-bay for somebody who has the fobs and the circuitry to match. It works - i know - i did it!

Note that there are many minor variations on the 405 with different things and what is standard on one car may not be on another model. Even the mechanics said one thing and my two Peugeots were entirely different. And this is from the people who are supposed to know!
