Peugeot 308 car won't start.

Car: Peugeot 308
Variant: diesel estate automatic
Model Year: 2012
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Press the brake pedal to start, extremely stiff to do so(i think he's exhausted the vacuum)The dashboard lights up,shows engine fault but absolutely nothing from the engine, not even "engaging" when key is turned. New battery a couple of years ago,all terminals clean,no loose wire around starter/battery/injectors etc.............at a loss for ideas. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

First thing would be to check the 2 year old battery voltage .Pedal will be hard due to vacuum , check if brake lights are operating in case faulty switch . Try moving gear selector when trying the key as it could be linkage . inhibitor switch fault .
