Peugeot 308 main display screen has started powering down and then resetting on a cycle

Car: Peugeot 308
Variant: 1.2 Active puretech manual
Model Year: 2016
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
The main display screen resets (flickers/implodes off, goes black, then the Peugeot logo come on before come back on. It is then re-acquiring satellites as seems to drop prior setting. Its on a regular 2min 20sec cycle). Occasionally when starting its all normal, other times the screen problem above. If on the car phone, the Bluetooth connection goes odd about 5seconds before the display drops. Only possibly related cause I can think of is I had a new battery in early Aug-20, but all fine up to now (mid Oct). Any knowledge appreciated.

This sounds very similar to a problem with my Citroen C3. The screen would go off then come on again with time and date flashing. I was advised to look at the battery but was sceptical as everything else was working fine. Anyway I looked and found a leaf near the battery terminals. I brushed it away more inhope than expectation. Hey presto, problem solved.

Had the same issue, just been quoted over £1200 for a new SMEG unit. The dealer said it’s usually fixed with a software update but they can’t do it while the screen is cutting out. Supposedly “a diode inside is broken”, I’ve. Got 66 plate 1.6 blue HDI

Thanks to Michael on his similar problem thread: with the radio in FM mode the screen is fine/normal. It only shuts down / restarts when in DAB. Bizarre.

I plan to have my new battery voltage/charge checked in case is not charging OK (the alternator was at 14amps when the battery was fitted, so in theory all fine), with my suspicion that if its not 100% charging correctly/fully that with the car being so electronic the management system starts reacting by changing system parameters / shutting off functions etc (which could be the screen on/off in DAB) well before any error codes are flashed up.
