Peugeot 308 oil warning light

Car: Peugeot 308
Variant: SW
Model Year: 2010
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Warning light came on today and screen said check oil level. Checked and topped up oil but warning still displays. Garage want to charge £79 to investigate. Are there any simple checks I can carry out other than checking dipstick, which shows plenty of oil in engine.

The oil light could be a faulty oil switch / sensor / transmitter (just different names ) but make sure that is all it is and there are no engine rattles
