Peugeot 308 steering and seat shudder at 70mph

Car: Peugeot 308
Variant: 2.0 HDI Sport
Model Year: 2008
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
When reaching 70mph the steering wheel shakes badly, you can also feel reverberations through seats. I have changed alloys as advised could be buckled and wheels have been repeatedly balanced with no change.

Well you've done the right thing so far... Could also check the tyres for damage/ egg shaped bulges in sidewalls etc. Best way to do this is spin them on a wheel balancer and look if it wobbles around.

I have also seen damaged driveshafts and/or worn steering rack causing this problem too.

I'd suggest getting it checked over by a trusted mechanic first, no point replacing parts which are not faulty.

ps It's not just on one dodgy section of road is it?

When this happened to me it turned out that one of my tyres was out of shape. The bracings had broken down alowing the pressur to "bulge" the rubber at one point. Didn't do anything for my underwear I can tell you.
