Peugeot 307 fault lights come on and lose power to air con, radio, windows, instrumentation panel.

Car: Peugeot 307
Variant: 1.6l Petrol
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I have a 2004 1.6L Petrol 307, and last week the fault lights started coming on intermittently (STOP! ABS, AIRBAG, !) when the lights come on i lose power to the radio, air conditioner, speedo, tachometer, power windows, and it seems on the odd concision to the power steering. It seems to be more common when the car is in gear, as they generally go off when its in neutral.
I was told it could be the alternator over chargiing the battery to >12V, but not sure. Anyone else had this problem?
