Peugeot 307 over heating - tjermostat

Car: Peugeot 307
Variant: 1.6 HDI 90
Model Year: 2006
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
Peugeot 307 1.6 HDI 90 SE I bought this car in April this year with 61000 miles on the clock, in July it broke down due to over heating, the recovery team took it away and replaced the thermostat which seemed to work, but on friday just gone it over heated again, a different recovery team told me to have the fans on full heat, but get the thermostat done. It always does this when sat in traffic, but surely it can't be the thermostat again? what else could it be? it now has 65000 miles on the clock. I look after it well, and check all oil levels etc regularly.

From what you say , looks like electric cooling fan not kicking in .If so , could be a faulty sensor / switch but other possible causes .Best to get checked out or may cause damage to engine .

Came across one or two on Peugeot forum suggesting it might be a software prob., cant say if true or not (see below ).Might be worth asking dealer

Hi

I think there is a software download from the dealer that may cure this just ask em at service if they are aware of an ECU download that applies to the cooling fan

Must be a fault with the 307 1.6 HDi models. Someone I know has a very similar model to mine, she took it to Peugeot and they charged about £100 for a ECU repair that has cured it.

Thank you both.

Finally got it looked at by the peugeot dealer and it was the cooling fan resistor. Hopefully it won't happen again in another two months.

Thanks again :)
