Peugeot 307 groaning noise from wheels & cruise control cutting out

Car: Peugeot 307
Variant: 1.6 Sport (Petrol)
Model Year: 2007
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Guys,

I have posted before about my car, which had howling noise from my back rear. Anyway I still have it and no solution yet, but now my wife, who has an identical car, with almost identical mileage (34k), just had her front discs and pads replaced last week. IT was making slight noises (grinding, etc) beforehand, and they needed replaced anyway.

We did a 500 mile round trip this weekend and there is a noticable howling noise, she describes it as grinding from both fronts, one is worse than the other, but when I was in Cruise Control at 70mph, it cut out several times without me touching the brakes. It re-engaged again no problem by hitting the button.

Would appreciate your input. With my car I am resigned to having to pay for a new set of discs and pads for my rears (which include the bearings) as Peugeot say they annot "pinpoint" the issue and therefore cannot begin warranty repairs.

Any ideas

Take it back to whoever replaced pads and discs and get it checked out .Cruise control would cut out if you touched clutch pedal / foot resting on it ?

Going back to kwik fit today. I was driving at the time and the cruise control cut out several times and my feet were no where near either of the pedals.

Is there a possibility that the bearings/ball joints are going and would this noise get worse if you got a new set of discs?

Also, can you recommend a garage in the Glasgow area to do discs and brakes.

Getting a good garage nowadays is like finding hen's teeth and Glasgow is no exception .Unfortunately the few who I would have recommended with confidence have left the garage trade / sold up for different reasons .Your best bet is to ask friends who they use for servicing and repairs and whether they are happy with them . Interested to know what K***f** say about brakes .

Quelle Surprise, kwik fit say they could not hear anything when they had it out a test drive. There must be a "You can;t hear it" course they all attend. The news discs to be fair are smooth as silk and I cannot think why they would be problematic, but its a bit strange the cruise control going off like that but we don;t use it that often....

Going to Peugeot on Friday. So is my car. Its incredible they both have the same issue at the same time on different wheels....If Peugeut cant fix mine I am getting the rears hubs replaced by Ecosse Peugeot as I have heard they are good (Boness I believe)

If you are not happy with Peugeot dealer re. complaints , get on to Peugeot Customer Service and voice your thoughts .Bo'ness ! Long way to go for a garage .You should have went on test drive and pointed out the noise you were hearing .If no noise , they cant fix it .

Been on a test drive 8 times and some hear it some don;t. they keep coming back sayin they cannot trace fault. Been on Peugeot Customer services and even they think its the bearing. As for Bo'ness. They are a Independant Peugeot Specialist and have won some impressive awards.

I have lost all faith in garage fault finding after this, and just want it fixed, but all anyone wants to do is bring up the same old excuses.

Peugeot say they can;t check the bearing as it is integrated into the hub and brake disc, but surely if that si the only thing they ain't checked then it should be by whatever means...

Right, i recently(tues 31/8) got a 57 plate 307 s hdi 110 signed the finance ect walked proudly out to the newest car i've had pulled away down the street on to the slip road put my foot down and was impressed with the power(for a derv)and then....hit about 65 and was greeted with a loud droaning noise which got louder and then went after 85 upon slowing sure enough 85>65 there it was. it kind of sounds like when you go over the rumble strip at the edge of the motorway but a little less fierce anyone dicovered the coase of this annoying personality trait of the 307
